Currently I teach violin and viola, mostly at my home in Missoula (543-4714), act as the assistant concert master of the Missoula Symphony, and play and perform with other ensembles if there is time and opportunity, like the "Brandhout Ensemble" of Missoula, and other Symphonies in the state.
My biggest teaching aspirations are, to treat students the way I would have liked to be treated as a student, to teach students the things I would have liked to learn when I was a student myself, which includes finding exciting music.
My short music-life history: 40 years ago I started playing violin as a child, and after high school went on to study at the Music Conservatory of Amsterdam, Holland, where I obtained a teaching degree after the customary 5 years of study. After that, I attended the Music Conservatory of Tilburg (also Holland) for 3 years, to obtain a performance diploma. In the U. S. this diploma is considered a masters degree. 3 years after that, while teaching and performing in Switzerland, I received another performance degree from the Music Conservatory of Zurich, Switzerland.
It was in Switzerland that I discovered my passion for, and great joy in teaching, which I have done now for 26 years.
